Brewer Position

We are seeking a motivated, skilled, and talented individual to join our team. The brewer will report to the head brewer and be responsible for wort production and cellar operations, including some packaging duties. The successful candidate will be excited to brew with alternative grains, committed to producing the best gluten-free beer possible, and willing to work in all facets of small brewery operations. We are a growing brewery with the potential for increased responsibilities and career advancement.

 

Essential Duties and Expectations:

  • Wort production on two-vessel 7bbl brewhouse
  • Cellar work and fermentation management
  • Yeast handling and cell counts
  • Beer transfers and carbonation
  • CIP/SIP of all tanks and equipment
  • Raw materials and spent grain handling
  • Brew logs and records (Excel)
  • Keg washing on semi-automated machine
  • Canning and packaging operations
  • Assistance with materials storage and supplier deliveries
  • Adherence to brewery process standards (SOPs)
  • Preventative maintenance (quarterly, annual)
  • Maintaining an organized, clean, and presentable production space

Additional duties as deemed necessary by head brewer or ownership

Qualifications and Position Requirements:

  • Commercial brewery experience, preferably in brewhouse operations
  • Formal brewing education or degree in biology/chemistry or related preferred
  • Respect for the requirements and food safety protocols of gluten-free brewing
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Highly motivated, self-starting, and resourceful
  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Drive for continuous improvement of processes
  • Effective time management and ability to work independently without supervision
  • Basic understanding of electric, plumbing, and refrigeration
  • Manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude
  • Schedule flexibility (early morning shifts, afternoon-evening shifts, and weekend cellar checks)
  • Ability to operate equipment safely and maintain a safe working environment
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and be comfortable working on your feet
  • Must be physically able to bend, twist, and lift 60 lbs. routinely
  • Must be at least 21 years of age

Compensation and Benefits:

This position is full-time and hourly, averaging 40 hours per week. We offer competitive wages (hourly compensation rate commensurate with experience), and benefits including health insurance, PTO, free employee beer and other brewery perks.
